Travellers entering Canada must follow the Canadian government rules set out in the emergency orders of the Quarantine Act, including screening and quarantine requirements. The day you arrive in Nova Scotia counts as your first day of self-isolation. You need to stay in one place while isolating yourself (you can`t change location). If possible, avoid public transport (such as taxi, bus or shuttle). If you need to take public transportation, wear a mask and try to keep a physical distance of 2 meters (6 feet) from others. Only take public transport if you do not have symptoms of COVID-19. Make plans to have food and other supplies delivered. Travellers to Nova Scotia can obtain a COVID-19 test kit at Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Sydney JA Douglas McCurdy Airport.

The kit includes instructions on how to complete the self-smear and what to do after swabing. Note to residents: In response to the worrisome Omicron variant, COVID-19 testing and isolation requirements are evolving. Rotary workers and skilled workers can meet their initial testing requirements with a self-smear test kit that uses a COVID-19 PCR test. Financial support programs are available to help people affected by unemployment and those who cannot work because they are sick, need to self-isolate or care for someone in isolation. Individuals travelling for custody (drop-off, pick-up or visitation) who are not fully vaccinated at least 14 days prior to arrival in Nova Scotia must follow the COVID-19 Child Care Protocol (PDF) when entering Nova Scotia from another Canadian province or territory. If you have a valid medical reason that prevents you from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, you can apply for a medical exemption from the self-isolation requirement upon arrival in Nova Scotia or full proof of vaccination for discretionary and non-essential events and activities. Travelers will receive their COVID-19 PCR test result within 72 hours of submitting to one of the major assessment centers by phone or email. Voluntary testing at the airport does not replace self-isolation requirements when you arrive in Nova Scotia. International travellers who are exempt from federal quarantine for any reason other than full vaccination or who complete their quarantine outside of Nova Scotia before coming to Nova Scotia may need to self-isolate upon arrival in Nova Scotia due to their vaccination status. Canada`s Military and Defence Team, coast guard, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada Border Services Agency and Canadian Security Intelligence Service personnel who are not fully vaccinated and their spouse or partner who is not fully vaccinated may enter the province from another Canadian province or territory (outside nova Scotia) to search for homes, but they must self-isolate for the period they are in the province, except when they are examining real property and must follow public health measures and guidelines. Their families who are 12 years of age or older and who are not fully vaccinated will also need to self-isolate once they move to Nova Scotia. If you are travelling through Nova Scotia to another province and are not fully vaccinated, you should make as few stops as possible in Nova Scotia.

You must prove that you are only travelling within Nova Scotia (such as airline reservations, ferries or car rentals). They should self-isolate as much as possible and follow public health measures and guidelines. University of Alberta students staying in one of the campus residences should contact Residential Services by email at housing@ualberta.ca to arrange an isolation room. Children who reach the age of 12 between September 1 and November 1, 2021 have until March 1, 2022 to be vaccinated. If they are not fully vaccinated, they must meet the self-isolation requirements for the least vaccinated person (12 years of age or older) with whom they are travelling. From 2 March 2022, they will have to meet the self-isolation requirements based on their own vaccination status. The obligation to wear a mask for public interiors and public transport remains in place.
